County Planning plays an integral part in maintaining the development of Robertson County, while assisting developers and the general public in negotiating the zoning and other regulations.

This office (1) issues and maintains records of all building permits, certificates of occupancy, temporary use permits (and renews these where applicable); (2) receives adequate facility tax; (3) maintains and keeps current zoning maps and records of amendments of maps; (4) receives, files and forwards to the Board of Zoning Appeals all applications for variances of other matters on which the Board is required to act; (5) receives, files and forwards to the Planning Commission all matters on which the Planning Commission is required to act; (6) conducts inspections as required to insure compliance with regulations. The Director of Planning and Zoning possesses the right to enter upon any premises for the purpose of making inspections of buildings or premises necessary to carry out his authorized duties.

This department is responsible for the support of the County Commission, Planning Commission, Highway Commission, and other boards for the routine processes of administering and interpreting the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Regulations, and for specific research as needed.
